What does “reformed” mean?
Being a Reformed church first means that our beliefs and practices aim to stay anchored in what the Bible teaches. We share deep unity with all Christians in the core truths expressed in the historic Nicene Creed. At its core, “reformed” means we believe God is the supreme author of history who lovingly directs all things. Because we cannot heal our broken relationship with Him on our own, we believe salvation is an entirely free gift initiated by God alone. He does not merely offer the possibility of salvation but actively pursues and secures the hearts of His people, promising to keep them safe forever.
Our particular heritage flows from the Protestant Reformation, when the church sought to recover the authority of Scripture and the grace of the gospel. Because of that, our leaders (elders and deacons) affirm one of the historic Reformed confessions—such as the Westminster, London Baptist, or Belgic Confession—which summarize key biblical convictions from that tradition. As a congregation, we hold the Gospel Coalition’s Confessional Statement as our official statement of faith, while welcoming all who sincerely profess faith in Jesus, whether or not they identify as Reformed.
We seek to hold our convictions with kindness toward others by focusing on and emphasizing what the Bible emphasizes. We believe people who disagree on secondary matters, like issues of baptism and worship, should still be able to worship and serve the Lord together.
What does “gospel culture” mean?
The good news of the gospel isn't merely believed, but lived out. How does this affect our church life? We love the way Ray Ortlund explains this as gospel + safety + time: we give each lots and lots of the gospel, telling each other the story of God's grace as often as we can. We give each other safety by avoiding accusing, shaming and embarrassing each other. And we give each other time, prayerfully and patiently waiting for God to do His work in each of us.
With the goal of living in grace together, we believe a gospel culture church values:
Honest and honoring speech at all times
Loving and respectful connections to other local churches
Commitment to the quiet work of making disciples who make other disciples.
How do we worship?
Worship at Redeeming Grace is:
Biblical - From the beginning to the end, our worship centers on the Word of God--reading, singing, and preaching it.
Joyful - We never get tired of enjoying the presence and love of Jesus together and of telling the world how great God is.
Reverent - Since worship is coming together into the presence of God, we value the opportunity as highly as we can.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of every month. All believers in good standing with a Bible-believing church are welcome to take communion with us.
How is Redeeming Grace led?
Jesus Christ alone is the Head of His church. Our leaders serve as elders—shepherds under the care and authority of the Great Shepherd, Jesus. While we are an independent congregation, we gladly identify with the wider body of Christ and seek to live in mutual accountability with other gospel-centered churches.
What about the intangibles, the “church life”?
If you’ve never experienced the joy of a smaller, close-knit spiritual community, getting to know RGC is a great opportunity. God has provided a wonderful spirit of friendship in the congregation and a desire to help each other follow Jesus. This includes formal ministries, like small groups, youth group, kids’ club, and Sunday schools. But just as often it means intentionally spending time with each other, finding ways to meet spiritual and physical needs together.
